Are you lost?

It’s dark here, isn’t it?

…..don’t trust them.

Fangs or Fortune

The wolf comes with a tooth and claw,

A hunger written in the jaw,

A howl that splits the winter night,

A predator born of cold and light.

Its violence is honest, plain, and true—

It kills to eat. It kills to live.

You know the danger in its eye.

You watch the shadow pass you by.

But man? Man wears a softer face,

And hides his teeth behind a smile,

He does not hunt to fill his belly,

But for a profit, mile on mile.

The wolf will take your life, it’s true,

But man will take the world from you.

He burns the forest, poisons seas,

And plants the war, then reaps the trees.

The wolf is fear you can outrun,

A natural thing, a primal sun.

But man is fear that thinks, that plans,

That builds the cage and locks the hands.

So who is scarier? The beast

That follows hunger’s ancient feast?

Or he who holds the axe and gun,

And calls it civilization’s sun?

The wolf is death with fur and bone,

A wild and honest, wild unknown.

But man is death with ink and law,

And silence dressed in polished awe.

So run from wolves if you must flee—

But look behind you. Look at me.

The wolf’s teeth are honest; man’s are not.
